The Larchmont Public Library was chartered in 1926 as a municipal library. It is located on Larchmont Avenue, across the street from Village Hall, and?owns the largest collection of fiction and non-fiction books in French in the county.
The library is a member of the Westchester Library System, a cooperative that provides its members with a number of services, such as cataloging and??the automated circulation system?WESTLYNX.
The "Friends of the Larchmont Library" offer free, open-to-all programs on topics of current interest, talks by authors, music and theater performances. Members receive newsletters and mailings about upcoming events.
The library's children's room is currently undergoing a renovation, which is expected to be completed in the summer of 2010. Meanwhile, children's books, films, audiobooks and music are all available in various parts of the adult library.
